FARM PROGRAMS

The goal of Frog Hollow Farm’s founders is to provide a self-sustaining community with a therapeutic, sanctuary-like setting for each resident. Frog Hollow Farm aspires to provide meaningful work opportunities by developing vocational skills through training and supervision.

A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.

AGRICULTURAL INITIATIVES

At Frog Hollow Farm, residents and staff participate in individually tailored day programs such as growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits, as well as raising chickens, gathering eggs, and tending other small farm animals. In addition, residents are tasked with general landscape maintenance. Tending to the grounds and applying basic farming techniques are the principal ways in which a farm setting can develop skills and foster social interactions.

SUPPORT FOR PCC ENTERPRISES

Frog Hollow Farm is where the stone ground flours for Green Lion’s handcrafted breads are milled and the diverse and uniquely flavored beans for Pear Tree’s artisan coffee are roasted. The farm yields fresh eggs, vegetables, and fruits cultivated on-site and used in PCC's partner businesses. Residents are given opportunities to develop meaningful employment skills, when appropriate, at partner organizations Heart Stone Pastry, Pear Tree Coffee Roasters, and Green Lion Breads.

LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE

PCC continually seeks to expand volunteer and employment opportunities for individuals with Autism, intellectual and mental health differences. Our latest venture aims to increase our bio-diverse, resident farm by supporting agricultural initiatives including Apiary, Orchard, and Gardening Programs. This vision includes the cultivation of herbs, berry bushes, fruit trees, and the future production of honeys and jams. The addition of a greenhouse for year-round gardening will better support our local enterprises and farmer’s market venues. Lastly, there are plans to hold workshops at the farm featuring beeswax candle making, honey bottling, herb drying and packaging, among other enriching activities.
